Moving to the USA

Goodbye EU
A belated Happy New Year to everyone. It’s 2014 and it’s time for a change. Not just a change of server, faction, class or guild, but a change of region.
Myself and my friend have decided start afresh on US servers. Why? Time!! Since we work later in the evenings than others, CET meant our game time was limited.
After 2 failed attempts to create our own late evening raiding guilds, the lengthy queues after 1.00am GMT, we put our EU accounts on the shelf and moved on.
We have not abandoned our EU accounts. We shall return to these at some stage.
January 29th 2014 our American adventure began. We chose Thrall as our server because of it’s large horde base. This time around I chose a Blood Elf Hunter called Fiagaí.
So what are the main differences we have found between EU and US
  • Tanks can’t tank
  • Healers cant’ heal
  • General Chat is eye opening
  • Trade chat can be eye popping
  • Queues are short, even for dps
  • Nobody cares how good or bad you are
  • Leveling through dungeons is a relaxing experience
So what are our plans for the future?
Our future is still unsure. The US offers us raid times that are actually possible, but is that enough?
Watch this space............

  1. Happy 2014 to you too!! I think it makes a lot of sense to play on the US servers if the in-gaem time suits you better. When I was (temporarily) working nights it was a nightmare to find groups etc. My boyfriend works evenings currently and he even gets frustrated by the lack of stuff going on at midnight CET. I think you'll get a better 'deal' with store bought pets & mounts too if memory serves :)

  2. Store pets and mounts are cheaper. I bought cinder kitty for $10 yet on EU it's 10 euro. Not sure of the exchange rate, but it's cheaper. The downside is starting from scratch. No achievs, no mounts..but I'll just have to work around it :)
