Day 4, Level 83-84
Tonight was my last night questing in Vashj’ir, and like all finales there was some notable and memorable quests to complete. The one thing I noticed about tonight was that there was no other players around. I had the whole place to myself, and that is not a bad thing.
One of the cutest little side quests that came across was on called “Free Wil’hai”. The quest title says it all, basically it was about rescuing a whale that was trapped by some quite large tentacles. A simple quest, but a nice distraction from the main storyline.
The longest quest I encountered was one called “Defending the Rift”. Be warned, this is not exactly a playable quest. Upon climbing aboard a submarine to go fight some Naga, you find yourself just standing there. The submarine does all the work. I have to confess that after about 30 mins, I got quite worried that perhaps I had done something wrong. Nothing happens apart from the submarine circling and circling. The npcs within the submarine appear and disappear randomly. Be prepared to have at least 1 hour to spare for this quest. Eventually it goes to a cut scene and it’s quest complete. I earned an achievement for this called 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
My time in Vashj’ir ended by following an npc called Legionnaire Nazgrim into a giant whirlpool, that brings you down to the entrance to the “Throne of Tides” dungeon. Of course at level 83 I wasn’t about to solo an equally levelled dungeon, so I hearthstoned back to Orgrimmar, and found the Warchief's Command Board had 2 more quests for me. I chose The Maelstrom. As this is a high risk ganking zone, I decided to try for a random dungeon. I still needed a few XP bars to reach 84, and I wasn’t confident about surviving The Maelstrom judging by past experiences.
Queuing for dungeons can take a long time late at night, but luckily I didn’t have to wait long, and I finally got The Vortex Pinnacle. Upon completion it was time to head to The Maelstrom. I managed to ding 84 after completing 13 quests here, and I only managed to get ganked once. Success!
